Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra percussionist Chan Lut Ting encountered Chinese music as a middle school student and studied Western and Chinese perfusion under the tutelage of Luk Kin Bun and Law Hang Leung. Chan graduated from the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts in 2017 with a master's degree in music, specialising in Chinese percussion. He studied under Yim Hok Man and minored in Western percussion under the instruction of Margie Tong. During his studies, he formed the group 'Three Person Act', which won first place in group performances at the Eighth National Youth Percussion Competition.
Chan has been an active member of several Hong Kong art groups and served as the member of the Four Gig Heads Percussion Group for fourteen years. In addition to playing in local performances like the Hong Kong International Chinese New Year Night Parade and the Hong Kong Retrocession Ceremony, Chan has been invited to perform in Europe,Australia,Japan,Singapore,Taiwan, and multiple Chinese cities.
